Charlotte is one of the country’s most promising Event riders and has been part of the UK Sport World Class Development Programme over the course of the last few years. At 18 she finished 5th in her first CCI*** at Blair Castle, at 20 completed her first Badminton, and at 21 finished 4th individually and won team gold at the Young Rider European Championships. Having graduated from Edinburgh University in 2011 with a 2:1 in English Literature, Charlotte moved from her native Scotland to Gloucestershire, in order to have all the facilities, events and best possible training at her fingertips. The move has paid off and Charlotte has been placed consistently on the International stage. Out of Africa has a number of 3* accolades to his name, but really proved himself to be world class by finishing 5th and best of the British at Luhmuhlen CCI4* in 2012; the pair were selected as one of the reserves for the Senior Europeans that year. Versatility is hugely important in this sport, and Charlotte has also had International success on a number of other horses who she has produced through the ranks. These include Pavonita (2nd Hartpury CCI1* 2011 and 11th Houghton CCI2* 2012), Dumbleton (1st Brand Hall CIC1* 2013) and Longwood (7th CCI3* 2013). She is now building up a new team of stars thanks to the investment made by the White Heather Eventing shareholders, as well as privately through the sale of Longwood. Despite being a true British rider Charlotte is keen to remember her Scottish roots, and indeed was ranked the No. 1 Scottish Event rider in the FEI World Rankings in 2011 and 2012. She now has her eyes firmly set on the 2020 Olympics, where hopefully her young team will get a chance to shine! Charlotte also has an expanding role in the media. In 2010 she made her TV debut, co-presenting for the BBC at Blair Castle International Horse Trials, and on a journalistic note she has been a regular correspondent for Horse and Hound and Eventing magazines over the last five years. If you are interested in becoming part of the sport of Eventing and supporting Charlotte in anyway or want to ask her any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
