Isabella Mackenzie
Isabella is 18 years old and lives in Moray in the north of Scotland, she is currently in her sixth year competing in British Eventing with the aim to be competing in the Junior Trials board her new mare Omard Ala.
In 2011 she began her eventing career, in 2012 she moved up to BE100 and qualified for Badminton Grassroots where she finished 8th before moving up to novice in preparation for 2014.
2014 was an exciting year for Isabella as she competed in pony trials which she describes as an ' amazing experience'.
In just one year she learnt so much from competing against some of the most talented young riders in the country and receiving some great training and advice from leading trainers and instructors.
Her pony 'Smurf' was no longer the 'Scot-ads' pony , but the 'Scottish' pony as they were the only Scottish partnership competing in the trials. After some good results they then moved on to CIC*.
Isabella now had a new partnership for 2015 in the shape of 'Romario II' who she is currently competing at novice level with hopes of moving on to CIC* and intermediate as the year progresses culminating in representing Scotland in the U18 CCIJ* at Weston Park International horse trials.
2016 was a great year culminating in Isabella and Romario's last event together at Frickley Park for the U18 championships where as team captian for the Scottish CCIJ* team where she had a an amazing run cross country and a clear showjumping round which saw her finish in 12th place individually and top Scot. Romario went on to another young rider to concentrate on dressage whilst Isabella brought in her new mare Omard Ala . The end of the year saw them compete at Aswanley (3rd), Oasby (4th) and Norton Disney (3rd). She is now part of the Horse Scotland developmen squad.
2018 looks to be an exciting year as she aims for Blair Castle International horse trials in august.
